At least to name 'Katchu Picchu' was based on the deserted Andean city of Macchu Picchu (I'm not sure how it's spelt, but it's something like this). This city has been attributed to the Incas (circa 1500)(not the Mayans, they were based around the Yucatan pennninsula of what is now Mexico - you're a couple of thousand miles off there, Strike) by most historians, though certain astronomical and engineering considerations point to it being many thousands of years older that the time of the Incas; it could theoretically be ~5000-8000 BC. In fact, I'd say the lost city and the Dragon Sword were created around the same time (and probably by the same culture - both the sword and the head-dress are artefacts of incredible magical power used in a quasi-religious/ ceremonial sense) but many thousands of years before the time of Queen Callista as it would that long for the city to become buried and the history of such a place to fade into legend then into myth.
