I've seen them breath heavily, but never pant. The few times I've seen a cat with its tongue out it was after washing. I'm to understand that holding their tongue out lets it dry and all the hair they've collected and, quite naturally, have no desire to swallow falls off. Back to the subject, Maverick said they sweat through their paws - don't they cool through their pawpads too? Maverick, any ideas? If they did, we'd have yet another reason why they run around barefoot.
